Reimagine Broadway Survey Graphics

The ITDP Boston office conducted a survey to assess the success of their project along Broadway, Everett, MA. The project consisted of several components including a dedicated bus lane, Distance of Care markings, slow streets and a parklet. I visualized the reponses to key questions using small icons to represent the number of responses. I like how colorful they are and that each response is symbolized by a people icon. It's a nice break from standard bar graphs. I created these graphics on Canva.

Bus  Rapid Transit in Boston - Post  Covid Recovery

In this video I try to make the case for why Boston should implement BRT as a way to address safety concerns during the COVID-19 recovery and use BRT system in Mexico City as an example. This video was put together for my Transportation Policy class at Northeastern University.

I recorded it using the Kaltura Capture app.

Where is the shade and who has it?
Bus Stops & Shade in Austin, Texas

I used to live in Austin and if you've ever spent any time in Texas you'll know the summers can be brutally hot. I wanted to see which bus stops had a shade structure (a shelter) and where they were at in the city. For context, East and South Austin is where we find large minority populations, however the housing crisis is quickly changing the demographics.

It could be interesting to repeat this project now that the city passed a bond to fund Project Connect, which will be a total revamping of the city's public transportation system, including adding three new light rail lines and expanding bus service.

Cycling Gals Podcast

A podcast where I interview every day women about their experience with biking, how they got started and what continues to fuel their interest.

The goal is to show we all have different experiences and there is no "one way" to be a cyclist.

What I used:
  • Audacity to edit the episodes
  • Anchor to host the podcast and dissiminate the RSS feed
  • Canva to create the logo
  • Headliner to create promo clips

Bus Stops, Tree Canopy and Sidewalks Across Austin Neighborhoods

Public transportation, including buses and trains,
provides a critical service to folks without cars. But first, people have to make it to the bus or train station. Some people can walk and do so, others might choose to bike and others use a
wheelchair.

When we look at the intersection of shade and transportation, it becomes a social issue that must be addressed. Folks needing to get to their bus or train stations must have streets with
shade that offer protection on summer days.

eTOD,  regional/urban rail transformation, covid and station access

This report combines a literature review on equitable transit-oriented development (eTOD) with the goals listed in the Rail Vision study. There is a large overlap between the guiding principles behind eTOD and where commuter rail hopes to go as it transitions away from Commuter Rail and into Urban/Regional Rail. Bringing eTOD into future plans has the potential to further the goals of the agency as well as meet our customer's needs, especially during our current Covid conditions when there is much concern over health and economic issues. This report also gives feedback on the Station Access Playbook, where I highlight the importance of adding shade and safety as critical factors for walkability, especially as this links directly to the agency's equitable transportation goals.
